Hi…
Thanks guys – I’ve had so many problems with the software on my laptop – lately – I really thought it was just my issue again…
Appreciate the help…
Yeah – I think I am done playing with V8 for now…
Seems like interest in MSTS is way down as well – maybe RW is grabbing everyone… This forum seemed a bit more active years ago when I built my first locomotive…
Have a good day – as it is one of those perfect – cool – cloudless – blue sky – autumn – apple orchard – kind of days here in New York… Just a pleasure being outside…
Regards,
Scott

All,
Sorry for all the questions – just trying to get up to speed on all the new developments in 3DC…
I loaded 3DC 8 again as many of the changes sound really useful – I installed my license code – I went to Paul’s site and downloaded his latest ‘trainsim’ plugin pack for 8.0 – installed same – went to options and enabled ‘trainsim’ feature…
The ‘trainworks’ plugin catagory is empty – I realize this is a work in progress – but – is that the way it is supposed to be at this point or do I have a problem with my machine ???
Also I did note the latest plugin pack mentioned rivits and steps – those plugins are available so the pack did install something…
Some of the real basics tools seem to be missing like ‘Butt Objects’ which I can’t really model without…
There also seems to be no means to export to MSTS – although the plugin description specifically mentions the exporter… The only ‘trainworks’ export option I see is the one in the menu under ‘File’ – ‘Export’… The only choice there is ‘Rail Sim Geometry’…
Are Boolean operations different in 8 ??? Normally when you select an object – the Boolean icons become active… No matter what I do they stay dimmed out in 8… Am I doing something wrong ???
Is this the state of 8.0 now – OR – did I totally hose up my machine ??? Did I miss a required download for 8 somewhere ??? Again – I only installed the following packages on 8: the base software – the ‘help’ package – and – paul’s latest plugin…
Any help appreciated…
Regards,
Scott

Hi Scott, I’ve noticed that too: the trainworks plugin submenu is empty.

[/div][/BLOCKQUOTE]I noticed that too and got the answer from Richard (Amabilis Support):
In version 8.x, to use Boolean operations you first need to select the 2 objects.
… and I’ve put it some time ago in my

8.0.0.x features list
So far 8.0.0.x has already some nice operational features but it’s too early to use it to start a new model or continue a 7.x model development.
I use it to build some model parts to take advantage of multiple object selection and new script options. Then the object is imported in 7.x in a directx format.
