Version 8 Operational

Hi Peter re: v7.1.2

I’ve just installed this on my new PC. The main download was from;

This seemed to give everything other than plug-ins by Paul Gausden/’Decapod’ – these are on his site;

I don’t seem to have as many zip files as you though.

Cheers

Hi Folks,

I haven’t been around in like a year… What’s the verdict on a working version 8 ??? Is there a stable version with all the tools for building trains ???

Regards.
Scott

Damn good question Scott, I have no idea what is stable and whats not.
Its kind of a major problem at the moment with so many version around and not knowing which files go with which version. Same goes for scripts and plug ins.

Hello,

Version 8.2 is not as stable as 7.1.2.
Take a look at the bugs section to have an idea.

However, taking advantage of the new 8.x features, it didn’t prevent from working [img:38y9hcrs]http&#58;//amabilis&#46;com/forumattachments/a/tpc/f/9606089974/m/575101735[/img:38y9hcrs]
on my last model
(currently working on cab animations which work quite well in RW2).

The last version (8.2 Build 1595) works with these plugins: [img:38y9hcrs]http&#58;//cid-06b528339820717e&#46;office&#46;live&#46;com/self&#46;aspx/Downloads/3dcplugins821&#46;zip[/img:38y9hcrs]
<!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://cid-06b528339820717e.of…ds/3dcplugins821.zip">http://cid-06b528339820717e.of…ds/3dcplugins821.zip</a>&lt;!– m –>

A new version coming of 8.2 is comming soon (see amabilis annoucements).

yes, thanks Dom, thats the info we need. maybe we need a database type section where we can get a list of the different files that makeup each version. I had a major harddrive crash between xmas and New year, so I need to install everything again. From my backup I have the following files which I assume makeup version 7.1.2. Least I think thats all them… <!– s;-) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!– s;-) –>

[File name]

3DC7120.zip
3DCExtras7120.zip
3DCHelp7120.zip
3DCTrainworksExtras7120.zip
3DCPlugins712.zip

18510180441_ShiftGroupCentre.zip
51710286541_stepmaker.zip
53210237341_edgeExtrude.zip
58010304441_Rivit.zip
84310935541_MaterialManager.zip

Total number of files = 10

Now i know some the bottom group are plugins and/or scripts but how you know which version they work with?

See what I mean, and I am sure I am not the only one that gets totally confused.

Thanks Peter/Dom…

Yeah – the roadmap around here is a little vague… What’s the overall plan – to move everything to .NET right ??? It seems to me it would make more sense to just make the jump and stop supporting two versions of the software… That way Richard could devote 100% of his efforts into a single stable release of 3DC – whatever that may be…

I wish 3DC had a link in the menu system pointing towards the correct version of Paul’s plugin… They are such an integral part of 3DC – I really don’t think I’d be building trains without them…

I’ll see if I can load up a version 8 and get it working…I think I saw reference to an improved materials handling capability…

Appeciate the assist…

Regards,
Scott

well maybe we should just start some sort of list of what files go with which versions. From my message above re ver 7.1.2 can anyone add any other files, including plugins and scripts that should be included in a list for this version. A URL would help.

Then I guess we should start a new list for Version 8?
