Unrecoverable error when merging objects

Hi BFM

I too am plagued with this error, although always when making hierachal changes.

It definately helped a lot when I collapsed all the stacks, very rare it happens if collapsed.

I am running XP SP2 as well.

Try collapsing and keeping and empty object library selected, it may improve the situation for you.

Cheers

I am consistently getting an unrecoverable error when I use the boolean tool to merge objects (but not when I use the subtract tool). When I restart the programme it recovers the model so, at least so far, I have not lost any work, but it is disconerting to say the least. The objects, the merging of which caused the unrecoverable error, are in fact merged when the programme re-loads.

Have others experienced this behaviour and if so, what is the cure?

i had this problem once…i just saved all work and removed 3dc and reinstalled the program and everything works fine…hope this helps…

I am stll consistently getting this error despite having completely uninstalled and re-installed the programme several times. It still mostly happens during a boolean opeation but it has also occurred when making hierarchy adjustments. It mostly happens after I have been working on a model for an two or three hours or so. (If I do a boolean operation after reloading the programme following the crash, it works ok).

I am raising this error again because last night I just experienced a more serious consequence of this error. Instead of reloading after the error and recovering the automatically saved model, the program ‘froze’ at the stage of initializing views in the re-loading process and despite several re-starts of the PC, I could not get the programme to run again. I also tried running the ‘repair’ option as an alternative to uninstalling and re-installing the programme, but this did not work either.

I finally had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the programme and this did work and then had to search for my Pro licnese code, which fortunately I eventually found, to upgrade it to the Pro version. But the error is still there (in its ‘savable’ version so far)

The result of course, was that the automatically saved model was also lost so I have had to start again from scratch.

I am running the programme on XP Service Pck2. 3DC is the only program I have that causes this problem.

Any advice as to how to deal with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Also, in case the problem happens again, to save the work already done, can someone tell me to what directory the automatically saved work is saved to?
