Unable to Run – IE not installed

Maybe there is some sort of dependency involved. That is, maybe capicom relies on something else to run. I’m really not certain.

Anyone know anything about this?

This is actually a misleading error message. The problem is likely that a component of Internet Explorer 5 and higher is not ‘registered’ correctly with windows. This can be done manually. To do this:

1) Open a ‘Command Prompt’ (via the Start menu’s Accessories)
2) Type: regsvr32 ‘c:windowssystem32capicom.dll’
3) Press ‘enter’
4) You should get a ‘successful’ message

Problem is fixed <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –> Thank you!

I found this thread while googling for the same problem as above and tried to register capicom.dll
as described above.
But in this case the attempt was not succesful (see attachment)
I have googled on the error code 0x80020009 and found some tips that involves editing the registry but I feel that is a bit beyond me and that there ought to be a simpler answer.
I have Mozilla Firefox and IE 7 installed, have tried with FF uninstalled with no success.
The capicom.dll is the latest version available from Microsoft.
I run Vista on a Sony Vaio FW21 laptop.
