Un Recoverable Error

I think DX 9 id backwards compatable

Can anyone please help. andnbsp;I’m getting an unrecoverable error when I try to [b:793nimzl]save[/b:793nimzl] a scene!!! 3DC Recovers the document when I start up. andnbsp;Does anyone have any suggestions. andnbsp;Is there any way to copy the recovery data to a 3DC file?

If i understand you right all you have to do is resave a recovered scene.Maybe you have to resetup 3DC again.Just remember to delete all of the old before reseting up again.I’ve never had this happen to me.Use the file save to save a whole scene.

It sounds like the scene was corrupted for some reason. andnbsp;??? Could be any of a hundred reasons. I assume you are on 6.0 Rev 3 or higher?

No harold every time I tried to save the scene. Even if I recovered 3DC crashed there must have been something 3DC didn’t like saving about that particular scene.

I lost it anyway because I forgot to Crash 3DC last time I exited. So It didn’t offer to recover the scene.

When I started the Scene again it Saved Ok!!

Richard, I am planning on uping to 6.4, is direct x 9 a must? I too had some error problems when I selected several faces at once, and tried to shift when in smotthing mode.

6.0 rev 4 includes some fixes to shifting points.

DirectX 9 isn’t required though I suppose it never hurts to be up to date on DirectX.

OK…Thanks Richard….. Can anyone tell me….when I download directX9, ( or is it 9a now?) will it overwrite the older version? or do I have to uninstall version 8.1 first?

It will overwrite and you can’t go back to earlier versions!!

Thanks Athas…I’m sure it probably is, just after going through so much to get 3DC running good, It would really bum me to find that upgrading to 9x might mess something up on me.
