Trainz exporter wigs out if output file not writable (Reso

The exporter seems to die nicely, at least on Windows 7.

Can you check to see if this still happens with the latest release? Thanks.

I know, ‘wigs out’ is a technical term, but… anyway, if an invalid path is used (say, trying to write the output file to a non-existent drive) 3DC generates a few error dialogs and then has to be killed with the task manager.

Also, the change in behavior for ‘select heirarchy’ is a bit of a pain, because I’m used to selecting the top of the heirarchy for the model being exported – now I have to find an outermost external object. I think if a group is selected, the Trainz exporter should also export everything in that group, which would return things to the status quo.

I’ll have a look at the bug.

But, the export is not as hard as it seems. The easiest way is to just hold down ctrl+a and in the hierarchy click on the root group you want. That selects everything. It’s very similar. Just hold down ctrl+a now when you click.

This actually provides a kind of cool enhancement. If you want to export a sub-set of your model, you can. I can imagine uses for it. For example, when you want to NOT export parts that obscure an animation.
