Trainworks Rail Sim Export Wizard

Hi Pete

I had a few problems with the wizzard when it came to exporting loco’s

It renamed and moved parts around in the hiearachy..

I then took to selecting my main object and using export from the File menu.. Trainworks export .IGS file

Since then I had no problems with the export.. the blueprints in railsim are a black art though..

A trick to get to see your work in railsim is to download and use the example files.

Briefly
Install the example_steam for arguments sake

Export your IGS file (and IA animation file) into the example using the example names..

use ToAcE to turn your bitmaps into ACE textures and put them in the Example_steamenginetextures folder

double click the example engine xml file in the tree.

validate, save and export

If you fire up railsim and select example steam engine.. you will see your model.

Let me know if this has been any use and I’ll give you a runthrough of how to move it across to your own developer folder where you have to rename and repath everything..

Sounds long winded but I still havn’t had any success making blueprints from scratch..

Sly

Please please can someone produce some very good instructions on how to use this export Wizard or a tutorial showing the same information as it is driving me mad trying to figure out how to get it to work?

Pete

There are some ‘Trainworks’ tutorials that cover this. They don’t cover absolutely everything yet, but they should cover the critical items. The rest is covered in the Rail Simulator specific FAQ which is located in the Help file here: Tutorials-andgt;Tutorials for 3DC Trainworks-andgt;Rail Simualtor-andgt;Basics. (You’ll need to have 3DC 7.1.2 installed which is available via these forums)
