Texturing from above in standard mode

Standard coordinate mode works find for texturing sides and ends of objects.
But if I want to apply a texture from above (e.g. locomotive cab roof) I currently have to use screen coordinate mode and uv edit or a shift rotate, texture and shift back.

Could we have the standard mode apply a vertical andquot;snapandquot; to texturing (along with the X-Z orientations) if the camera goes above or below 45 degrees to the horizontal.

I second this motion.
