Texture Orientation

Thanks again,

I believe oriented modelling is my missing link.

Hello,

some days ago I posted a related problem to the general forum. Now my problems increase when trying to apply the rail-textures i.e. andnbsp;ACleantrack2 from Europe2 route. It seems as the parts of the texture are not exported correctly to the sim. this can be seen best when using the texture from europe2 because of the great unused white part in it. Every Time when I crop a part of the rails, after exporting to the sim white parts appear on my rails. Inside 3DC, in scene and in UV Editor everything seems to be ok.

may be of help.

Thanks Richard,

very useful hint. BTW my problem was a wierd one, my copy of the texture was 90 degrees rotated compared to that one used in the sim, for what reason ever. Therefore without any mipmapping the faulty mapping was obvious in the first stage after exporting to the sim. My fault. But why is the orientation of a flat texture andnbsp;not predictable? See my picture and posting in the generall forum. When i use 3 rectangular faces in one rectangular object, the middle face will show up as expected the two other faces on the edges will always rotate and need UV-Remapping. I found no way to avoid this

This is a fairly common problem with UV mapped items. This explains it pretty well: [img:3deydihr]http://www.christrains.com[/img:3deydihr]

. Check out the FAQ and look for the word andquot;whiteandquot;.
