Texture always bright in Sim

Thank you, it appears to have been the specularity setting. Texturing seems to be a black art to me at the moment. Lots to learn and figure out.

Thanks again

Hello,

I’m fairly new to 3D modeling and up until now have managed to have all my projects work out.

What I have now is a Victorian street lamp that has a base that shines like a beacon all the time including at night.

How can I fix this and how did I manage to do this in the first place?

Another possbility is the andquot;Ambientandquot; value of your materials. This less likely though.

You can use the SceneDetails plugin to see what materials your object uses.

If you want the globes to shine at night, set the specular value to ‘0’ while texturing the globes, but set the specular value to ‘1’ while texturing the lamp standard.

Anything with a specular value of 0 will glow in the dark (I know, I released a pack of 11 coal trucks which shone in the dark, hardly correct, they would not even have shone in full sunlight) <!– s:-( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":-(" title="Sad" /><!– s:-( –>

There is a tutuorial in the online help on using material in MSTS. If you have an older version of 3DC it is available here:
