Structure Modeling

In order for GMAX to export to another program Autodesk writes a utility for that. For GMAX to be free the Gamedeveloper is charged huge amounts of money. Rail Simulator would have had to write a check to Autodesk for an amount that I understand is in excess of $100,000 USD possibly 1 million. Since Autodesk isn’t even supporting GMAX anymore it is understandable that Kuju didn’t jump at the opportunity. GMAX delibertly was set up in a way that it won’t export to any other formats unless a utility is written for that. Microsoft and Trainz paid the fee that is why GMAX exported to MSFS and Trainz

Using 3DC, I tried to build a train station with an alcove in one wall. Going through the help directory, I could not find any information about creating that detail.

Extrusion, as used in 3DC, just doesn’t work for me.

So, using gmax, I created the station with its alcove then used a utility to transfer it into 3DC.

As an aside, why doesn’t RS have a utility to load models made in gmax? Is there a contractual or copyright issue here? 3DC covers other gamepacks . . . <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
