BHoltzman,
These were just quickly done with Painter21. It has several ready made textures, plus what you can do with making changes, creating your own, etc. Pretty neat program.
I wouldn’t know where to start doing things like this with trig, or any other type of math for that matter….LOL

Hey Everyone,
Here are some textures that I did while goofing off today. These are pretty abstract so I’m sure that not just everyone will like them. These are all 256 X 256 24bit color Bitmap files.

Some nice textures!
What did you use to create them? i have no real image editing program, and am looking into some to edit my models with. I will also need a good prgram to use unmapping with, right?

blaydrnnnr,
Hi, well I just got my new machine up and running, and I’m still mading udjustments so bear with me.
I believe I made these in Painter21(free software), but since I lost the old machine(DEAD), I’m not really sure. At any rate the textures are long gone now….LOL
When I get everything finished on this machine, I’ll try to do some more.

Alrighty!!! Thanks Alan..going to download them tomorrow..let me know what you think of any of them. I’m new to imaging, ( except for alot of very basic stuff in windows paint) I’ll check’um out. The P-51 Mustang is gonna need a very awsome texture..no skimping on this one..its coming along very very well, and very detailed( landing gear, struts, flaps, ..canapy have to be perfect!!) It will be the first mapping i am going to try to work with, i dont think simple painting will do it on this one. ( yes this means i’ll be bugging, .. uh… asking for alot of help on both mapping, and background scenery.

I’ve used all three of these actually, and the Gimp is the best one. andnbsp;I did not like dogwaffle at all, and yes, PhotoPlus 7 looks very nice, but 5 is a little sparse on features. andnbsp; It all depends on what you want to do.
Now that I have the resources at my disposal (and creating train-sim models and skins has become kind of a hard-core hobby for me), I use Photoshop and/or Paint Shop Pro.

I did the survey of cheapies for myself recently and here are my conclusions:
Gimp – unstable at my place. andnbsp;Didn’t keep it
Pixia – great for tiled backgrounds. andnbsp; Most docs in Japanese. andnbsp;Overall limited. andnbsp;Transparency not easy to handle.
Dogwaffle – doesn’t run on Windows ME so didn’t try.
Ulead freebies from magazines – couldn’t do transparent layers
The winner – Satori ([img:3gqsfwxl]http://www.satoripaint.com[/img:3gqsfwxl]

) – version 2 free and about 10 bucks to upgrade. andnbsp;MUCH harder to learn than the others. andnbsp; But its images are scaleable, so when you need to redo your images for widescreen you can just resave them.
Photoshop 4 is still useful if you can get it – and it’s the only program that never crashes my computer.

RE: Photoshop 4.
Funny. I guess that’s why I still have it handy. It always did what I wanted. I even ignored the upgrades.

This is interesting. I was playing around with different ways to make plasma on the computer and these texutures that you came up with look a lot like the trig functions I had changing over the area of the screen.
