This is difficult to explain, but actually correct. The amount of movement is relative to the edit direction.
There has to be a better way to do this, but I can’t think of it off hand.

Button ‘edit using standard coordinate mode’ is selected (default 3DC startup).
Shift point using XZ plane in edit control as in attached example.
I was expecting:
X shift: 0.823 ( 1.323 – 0.5 or 6.066 – 5.243 )
Z shift: -0.831 ( -1.331 – (-0.5) or 3.938 – 4.769)
