no not backwards. I failed to close the lathe (I think).
I still have a problem though. As even though I think I have closed the plate in the lathe and solidified, optimized and triangulated.
When I unwrap the top and bottom of the plate and export to 3ds or obj. No other program seems to recognize the Unwrapped textures.
My conclusion seems to be that the lathe is [b:13t0c13f]not[/b:13t0c13f] good to use if you want to unwrap it for to apply textures and export the object.

If I lathed a plate and it is shaped like a bowl, could someone tell me the best way to select the top faces only for unwrap?
The select by direction doesn’t work, since (I think) it is bowl shaped.
That might leave me to select one face at a time?
I thought the group selection tool might work but it select points underneath the bowl even though I solidified it first.
The shine from the light shining down would be just the ticket. But aside from selecting a thousand faces and hoping I do not accidently hit a button…
There must be an easier way?
Thanks for any help??? <!– s:? –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_confused.gif" alt="" title="Confused" /><!– s:? –>

First you need to be looking down on the plate.
Then use the Group select tool with [b:1azfh2tv]JUST[/b:1azfh2tv] the shift key pressed.

Well, that helped.
Since I should be able to do it that way,
I didn’t do the lathe right to start with- as
the lower plate was getting selected.
So I tried the plate again and it worked good.
Thanks!

You did it backwards? It might have been ‘inside-out’.
