scene lighting and LOD

I’m a bit more of a practical, Hands-on modeller myself so I’m not really sure how to go about scripting a crease value of 60.

Maybe someone with a better knowledge of VB can help in one of the other Amabilis forums ?

Hello,
I am having strange problems with lighting.
While doing different LOD and compiling them as mentioned in the documentation, some of the simpler shapes for the far LODs are too dark in TS. The same effect, but not so obvious can be seen in 3DC. With some experiments I found out, that it sometimes depends on the shapes itself, i.e if a tringle stands with the corner versus the edge on the origin. But effects are overall unpredictable. Any hints??

I haven’t seen that before with manual LOD’s.
Does optimize or a slight crease have any effect on the parts in question when viewed in 3DC and eventually in MSTS ?

Creasing is a universal cure, it helps a lot but not always. My parts in question are tracks, in the near they are separated in 2*15m pieces, in the far lod only one piece of 30m

Does the De-Triangulate operation help any ?
You could also try the Merge triangles op after trying this one as I’ve found it to fix ‘dark’ facets by making them both planar and convex. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Any chance of a picture of the problem area rendered in solid outline or flat wireframe ?

De-Triangulate? I must admit not beeing very familiar with ‘manual’ mode as I do my modells with scripting. No need to battle with the mouse for hitting a Point or a face… So, as of today I can live with doing my shapes by script, save them ( the LODs) individual, load them all together on a scene and finally export them to trainsim. BTW what will be the correct commandline for creasing with the manual default value of 60? Mybe my brain is a little rusty or there is a difference calling creasing by script or doing it manually.
