forum with ATI cards. [/div][/BLOCKQUOTE]

This isn’t correct…I’ve had an ATI card now for two years and encounter very few problems. I deliberatley changed from an NVidia card because of all the problems I was having, Mainly due to NVidia releasing one set of crap drivers after another.
My next system will have an ATI card.

The issue is with 3DC 6.6.5 + AA (Richard from Amabilis noted the issue too); not with 3DC 6.5.x. It is very noticeable when using a high resolution monitor.
May be the problem is not with Radeon 9xxx but with newer ATI cards + more recent Catalyst version.

The replies from ATI support are, so far, not satisfactory.

Bremen, the problem you are talking about is different from the one started in this topic.

With the point and selection tool the right click menu is instantaneous in any case.

With 3DC 6.6.5 + AA on ATI card, it is not instantaneous. It is the subject of the topic.

With the group selection tool instead there is an increase of lag everytime new object is added to the scene.

This on my notebook with a turion dual core@1.6ghz and a nvidia 7600go(93.70).
Over the old 2400+@2ghz with an nvidia 4200 ti(78.01), the 6.6.5.8 revision takes half the above times.

This is another problem.

So mine is another problem. Well, I have deleted my post so there aren’t other off topics in here.

In the mean time i have found a solution for the right click problem (and others glitches)… i’m turning back to the rocky version 6.5.1.0 <!– s:D –><!– s:D –>

Last thing.. have you tried ati try tool? Is a powerfull tool to do changes to ati drivers.

Hi Bremen,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I am already using ATI tray tool (and not ATI Catalyst Control Center). I made several tests and it is actually AA which causes the problem (I made tests removing anything but AA).
So I am running 3DC without AA.

It could be interesting for improving next 3DC versions that you send a message to Richard (Amabilis Support) about what you found, specific to version 665.

Shouldn’t you let the application decide if FSAA should be used or not. With Nvidia, you can have FSAA be application controlled (IE, for games GOOD… for text editing BAD.)

I would NEVER want to have FSAA on all the time since it has ALWAYS been made clear that you pay a performance penalty. The 3s is your perforamce penalty in your case. Remember… 3DC has many graphically intense windows to update all at once.

With ATI, there is the same option too.

Do you mean that FSAA should be set in 3DC?
But there nothing in 3DC to do this.
The performance penalty in 3DC is with the right click menu.
If I select a point and click on ‘set point position’ in the Object operations panel: the display of the XYZ coordinates is instantaneous. Not using the right click menu.
Moving around the object with FSAA on is no problem at all.

Btw, will it be possible to have FSAA control in 3DC 7.0?

New reply from ATI:
Install Catalyst 6.10

<!– s:( –><!– s:( –> It’s already installed on my machine.

As 6.12 is already out, I bet their next reply will be : install 6.12!
