Richard, I’m getting an error message that doesn’t make se

Unfortunately, no… I ended up backing up my files and then reinstalling Win XP. I couldn’t get rid of the error message. I don’t how it happened. Everything is working fine now. Regardless, you have provided me with outstanding support, and I’m still a big 3DC fan.

When I start 3DC, once I start doing a model, I get an error message saying that my video drivers need updating.

The program worked fine until recently. Now I get the message and the ref number is 2147417848. Any suggestions?

Thanks

P.S. I forgot to mention that I have tried reinstalling the program and upgrade and the error continues to occur.

Have you made any changes to your system lately such as installing new drivers, the new XP service pack etc?

It may help to try the Windows XP ‘System Restore Wizard’. Just search the Windows help for ‘System Restore Wizard’.

Richard

Tried System Restore, it didn’t even want to restore my system to an earlier point. I did install service pack 2 but went back to the earlier version.

I’ll see if I can update my video drivers and try again.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I have a possible solution but it is a bit involved:

I’ve released a new version of 3DC that I would recommend installing: [img:2fl9k8uf]http://3DC.com/downloads/3DC.zip[/img:2fl9k8uf]
<!– m –>http://amabilis.com/downloads/3DC.zip<!– m –>
.

I don’t think it will fix this but it is the first part of a solution.

After you install the new version of 3DC you’ll need to re-register your DAO360.DLL file. This means searching your computer for the following two files: DAO360.DLL and REGSVR32.EXE. There should be only one of each located on your computer. Once you find the locations of the files select ‘Command Prompt’ on the Start Menu (under ‘Accessories’) and type:

pathREGSVR32 ‘pathDAO360.DLL’ (where ‘path’ is the location of the file on your computer)

Alternatively you could try installing the new verson of 3DC and re-installing MDAC and Microsoft Jet.

Micorosft Data Access Components (MDAC) can be downloaded here:

Microsoft Jet can be downloaded here:

Note that these versions are only for those running English versions of Windows.

Thanks again.

I have to say that of all the 3D modeling programs I’ve tried, I like 3DC the best. All the others seem a whole lot more involved than 3DC. That includes Wings, Milkshape and Lightray. So Kudos to you, Richard for your, In my opinion, superior product!!!

That includes outstanding support too!!

I’m assuming this means all is well now?
