Radial Engine

I’m a big fan of radials, but I can’t see the pics. Any suggestions?

I did this engine when I first downloaded 3DC. I think it was one of the 5.0 versions, ( 5.5 I think ) I had stopped working on it because I was having serious problems running 3DC with crashes every few minutes or so…well, with a new video card, I am actually having fun and have learned alittle since then…… this is my first raytraced model in 3DC…….The model is pretty old so it wasnt modelled in 6.0, so we’ll have to see how 6.0 will react when modelling…..( ihave about 60 models, either unfinished, or just gave up on because 3DC was giving me so many problems..so…before I trash them all..I’m working on seeing what I can do for them now….I am just now starting to try out textures and painting in raytracing, in 3DC….the engine isnt too detailed..just wanted to see what it looked like before it was deleted….

This looks great!
Cant wait to see more.
your render looks good i see youve got it working.

Lets see some more.

Yes.. the whole model is done in 3DC, with the POV internal render feature. And, just for the information, andnbsp;the whole model was made with primitives. Just did some modifier operations.

hey thats cool. andnbsp;What did you use Pov to render it? andnbsp;

Actually, after looking at it, I might try to make a plane for this andnbsp;;) We’ll see..Have fun all!!!!!

Looks real nice.It would look real nice on a plane.

LOL!!! Well, this was actually pretty easy to render in POV, ( in 3DC ) because the render time to make a preview was pretty quick. So it wasnt too bad to make changes and try another prview to see what looked good. But,I’m working on a room with objects in it, and I am trying textures again in 3DC’s POV, but the preview is taking about 15 minutes every time I check to see what the rendered scene looks like so its taking ALONG time to configure the textures so they look realistic. I am determined to try to finish this room and get it looking halfway decent so I am making changes to the textures, then hitting the preview buttom, and going to do other things while it renders ;D( I havent even started playing with the lights yet in this scene :-/) But there will be more coming Kirk!!! Thanks for your help!! <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>

Thanks Harold, I think I might try a plane for it soon. First I have two other models I’m trying to get to a somewhat finished point. Then I think I’ll try a Bi-plane for this engine. Have fun all!!

No…Pov isnt any faster by itself than 3DC. At least so far with the models I’ve tried. Besides, using the POV in 3DC eliminates the headache I get trying to get anything done in POV.

blaydrnnnr,

if Povray render is faster than 3DC
(did you mean that?) preview, why not
export in Povray format and then render
in Povray? You can have both 3DC
and Povray open at the same time.

Just a suggestion…
