Project in the works

Great stuff. <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –>

I love the front view and the last shot of the underside.
I can just picture a squadran of these with each one peeling off in turn.

Of course you will need a miniture Richard T. in the cockpit. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Okay peoples, this is the most recent update.

A front view of the Mustang.

A side view…

The last one.. I named this Tally Ho! I just need to add the exhaust ports and tweak the canopy…

Fantastic. <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –> <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –>

I’m pleased you stuck at it.

Has Mustang seen it, I’m sure he would be delighted with what you have created.

Bazza

Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!

I’m gonna send him a copy of it today.

By the way, I sent you an email this morning.

Richard

Here’s one with a bit of color added.. basically it’s in the colors of the ‘Tuskeegee Airmen’.

Need some pointers on where to look and learn how to add the background.

Thanks,

Richard

Here’s one with the model partially textured. I had some problems making the checkertail texture work because the vertices are all screwed up on the vertical stablilizer. So that color scheme will be reserved for the next one I do.

The present livery is the ‘Tuskeegee Airmen’. The all black unit that served with distinction in the North African and Southern European Theaters.

Gonna name it ‘Oh Kathy!’ after my girlfriend.

Now I need to know where to look to add the background I came up with to the scene. Do I do a full render?

There are a couple of ways to do this…..
1) From the file menu, select Properties and you can load in a background image. You need to have ‘Render background image’ selected for it to show.(top toolbar)

2) Drop a sphere or cube onto the scene, scale it up until it is very large and then use the Invert selection operation. Then apply your background texture.

I prefer method 2 as you can adjust the texture.

Thanks for the comments on my loco’s BTW. I missed them.

Bazza

I didn’t see your reply until after I came up with a solution. I scaled 3 cubes each 10 X 10 X .1 and textured them with the pictures I wanted to use. Here’s the result.

Thanks, Bazza. I appreciate it.

Richard

Things are starting to look a lot better now <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
but….If you want to loose the joint in the sky texture try this….
Drop a cylinder onto the scene, scale it up till it completly surrounds the plane. Use the INVERT operation on the cylinder and apply your sky texture with the Fill tool. Next apply your sea texture to the base of the cylinder.

Bazza

The more you work on this the better it’s lookin’ <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Maybe… along with what bazza suggests, you could power-up the -Terrain Tool- in 3DC. Create an island or coastline using a heightmap. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Great job so far. Keep it up!

James

Thanks for you comments James, I’ll try some of those tricks you and Bazza suggested. I’ve got a lot to learn about 3DC.

Richard

Richard…a suggestion…

Spare a thought for us poor people still using dial-up…If you post any more pics can you start a new thread?

At the moment I open the thread…take the dog for a walk..come back and make a cup of tea…by which time everything has just about downloaded ready for viewing. <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –> <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –>
