program speed revisited

ok, this is wierd…
in a move of desparation, I uninstalled 3dc, uninstalled the pro upgrade, then reinstalled the whole deal.
It did’t help my speed or mouse jump problem at all… but then…
I looked at my ‘options’, and even though I just re-installed the whole deal, or so I THINK I did, my undo’s, which I had reset to 10 from the default 100 was still set at 10, in spite of the fact I just reinstalled.

There’s something I guess i don’t understand about this. In the meantime, the prog is still jumpy and slow, and I would so like to get this back to fast and smooth like it was when I first installed. HELP!

I’m still having a lot of trouble with my 3dc having slowed way down. When I open it, its slow, when I make a new object on a new file, it takes ten times as long to do any operation.

I clicked optimise, compress, and compact all, reset my undo’s down to 10. However, either something is cacheing or something else is wrong.

What can I do to fix this problem? It;s taking me forever to do even the simplest operations. Do I need to reinstall the whole deal and start over, or is there a simpler solution?
Thanks

You mentioned earlier that you were running on a laptop. I assume you would be running Windoze XP. What size hard disk do you have?

If you haven’t done so yet, I would suggest you give your hard disk a good defrag, clean up some more stuff, then defrag again. If you have applied any of the XP maintenance, invariably there are backup copies on your hard disk. I was amazed at the liberties MS takes with your hard disk.

40 gig at 4% frag, don’t think that’s it. The lappy is actually fairly new, haven’t done much maintenence on it, other than antivirus and adaware, and the freeze ups and slow downs are apparently only with 3dc, other progs running fine.
