program speed

still having a few issues with speed and mouse hanging. I’ve optimized, compact all’d, and compressed, but with very few operations into that, like three, and everything slows down again, slider bars are jumpy, rotating the scene on an object is jumpy. I really don’t have much else open in my systems tray, at least not for the likes of this machine.

After a few more operations, the program encounters an error and wants to shut down (does). I’ve got to the point I save my work after almost every modification now, so I don’t lose anything.

Help! Is there anything else I can do to minimize resource hogging once I have a large number of objects/modifiers?

as I’m building characters for a scene, I’m finding the operating speed has plummeted. I have about 60 objects, most of which have some level of deformation and scaling, and two skelletons for kinetics, objects ranked in hierarchy.

The program speed was pretty good until I added a second character, which I had to import as a 3ds file (is there a way to grab a 3dc scene to another 3dc scene, including bomes without exporting to another program format?)

Object selection, rotation and movement is particularly slow, sometimes jumpy. Is there something I can do to speed up my scene once I have a larger number of objects and operations assigned?

I’m running a 1.8 gig AMD. 512 ram, radeon graphics card, all on a lap top
Thanks

Wait! Don’t answer part B… compess all layers!
Once again, half the time I find the answer right after I pose the question. Man, that helped a lot!

Still looking for 3dc scene import to 3dc

as far as i know i don’t think you can nest (bring one project into another). i did recomend this for a future release becasue it would be nice to have, and other modeling packages have it. someone else might know a way ,i’m not 100% sure so i don’t have a real answer.
