Problems with right clicking

When I click on the andquot;extrude selectionandquot; button it dosent hapend anything. Why?? ???

Try this…

on a new scene

add a cube

select the face/edge/point tool (the one under the arrow on the right side of screen)

right click a face (it should get a blue/green line around it to show it is selected) and select the extrude

anything ?

if not then leftclick a face (blue/green selection highlight should show) and try the extrude button in the group of tools buttons (top row of the group 7th selection in)

anything ?

if not then maybe you have altered the default extrude amount ?

look under parameters – is the extrusion amount showing .0 ? (to reset to the default click the red X)

just been running through this to check it and the default extrude setting does not appear to alter how much the right click extrude, er, extrudes ?

Yes, the right-click extrude does not use the andquot;defaultandquot; extrude parameters. This was so that it wouldn’t do a very simple extrude (with no bevelling) each time that can be adusted afterwards.

Do you think I should change it?

I think you misunderstood the thread. It wasn’t about right-clicking on the andquot;extrudeandquot; operation. It was the right-click extrude.

I don’t really see your point because when you change the extrude amount the face is still selected. And if you want to keep the extrude amount for the next extrude all you need do is click the blue flag.

YES …
You know – as I had that one one of my Beta remarks – that I relly liked the right click option for the extrude so I could set the parameters before the extrude happened.
Don’t get me worng, I love the adjustment afterwards too so don’t get rid of that, but the setting of your extrude parameters prior to extruding is really helpful…

A simple scenario… I need to perform multiple extrudes on a face…
In the andquot;oldandquot; version, I would select the face, right click for the extrude properties, extrude. The face retains focus (it is still selected/blue). Right click and change the extrude parameters, extrude… repeat as long as necessary…
In the andquot;newandquot; setup I select the face, click extrude (default parameters used), change the parameters to what it needed to be. The face is now unselected… bummer … Find the face again and select, click extrude, change parameters, face lost selection again … repeat

You see that the andquot;oldandquot; one worked better for me…
