Problems with NVidia Drivers and 3DC

maybe you can help me again.One problem solved and another pops up. My TGA transparencies work ok in 3DC but when I export to train sim the transparecies don’t work. Any ideas ??

I recently installed the latest NVidia drivers, v-81.98, and for some reason I am having problems with running 3DC. When using the ‘component selection’ tool, the box does not form around the selected object, instead I get lines coming from one corner. Then when using the ‘point/face selection’ tool, it causes a system crash and restarts my computer. Just curious if anyone else has has similar problems, or do I need to reinstall 3DC?

Which version of 3DC are you using? I’ve got the same problem with 6.5.7.0. Version 6.6.1.0 works fine.

WOW, I have version 6.5.0.2! Guess I should look into updating more often. I will try out the latest version to see how that works out, and if I should still have problems will follow what the ‘recommended driver’ page says.

I’m having the same issues. 6.5.1.0 is sending lines off into space for slection/bounding box definitions. Will try new drivers… then versions and report results. I have the NVIDIA 7800 GS OC

Well, the latest NVIDIA drivers don’t fix it.

Ok. This is more confirmation.

This card will only work with NVIDIA drivers released since December 2005, and newer drivers have no effect on making 6.5.1.0. work properly.

Installing 6.6.1.0, however, removes the problem entirely… so it looks like this is now my only choice.

I am also having the same problem . I run a winxp sp1 on an amd 64 3000 with raid array 0.I just upgraded my video card to a EVGA Gforce 7800 gs.Installed the latest drivers and since then have had a problem with 3DC ver 6.502.I tried the recomended 78.01 drivers and it wouldn’t recognise my video card. trie to install 3DC vers 6.6.10 and I get an error 1931.saying scrrun.dll file is protected by windows and can’t install. says I need to upgrade my operating system!!!!Anybody any suggestions..

I finally got 6.6.1.0 version loaded,but have only a few plugins showing in program.The train sim exporter is also missing. I mite add I don’t have the problem with selecting in 3DCs now.I did download and install pauls 6.6 plugins ,thats the ones that are showing.Am I missing something??

Sounds like you’ve not got the pro upgrade installed.

Check the help menu – after an upgrade you usually have to enter your licence key again then download and install the pro upgrade.

Thanks Paul. Everything works now.I didn’t realise I had to upgrade it as it said 3DCs pro when I loaded the program. Once again you have bailed me out. many thanks
