Poly Limit?

Did you merge all the objects? I just read a report on the trainsimfiles forum that someone has a complex model that was crashing MSTS, but when he did not merge the objects, but just put them all in the same frame, it was OK.

Is there some sort of polygon limit MSTS can handle? andnbsp;I was working on adding a few details on my baggage car last night, and afterward it would no longer load into MSTS. andnbsp;3DC says it had something around 1600 faces and like 2600 points. andnbsp;Anyone have any rough idea what that would translate to in 3DS Max? andnbsp; The line in the .s file where it says (points) is 2160, which is more than the Dash 9, but i didn’t think it was anywhere near death point for MSTS. andnbsp;Since the last time it worked, i added some cyliders for the HEP and comm lines, and some flat 2-sided polys (which is actually a box where 4 of the faces were deleted and then using the scale feature i made it andquot;flatandquot;) that used transparencies for the grabirons. andnbsp;I used those earlier for the ladders and they worked fine then, though it did seem a little sluggish (please note i had 11 MB of crap in my temp dir at the time and a few more background programs running than normal – i sort of chalked it up to the system as fps were 30-40, but it chopped a lot). andnbsp;Any ideas what may have happened?

Yeah, i merged ’em. They were also transparent parts, which may also have something to do with it. I’ll try this again, but this time i’ll try what you suggested.
