Options not scrollable (Resolved)

8.1.3 1337: option scrolling works correctly with Windows Classic theme.

Edit: However… there is an issue with radio buttons (in plugins, at least), see Bugs dsicussion.

Using 811a, windows XP at latest patch level.

Under the Tools:Options Menu, the contents of the scrollable windows in the Operations, Plug-Ins, and Scripts Tabs do not scroll with movement of the scroll bar.

Anyone else have this problem? I can’t reproduce it. It might be Windows XP specific. At least, it could be.

yes and i have XP SP3. (3DC 8.1.2)

I should have noted that my latest XP patch level is ‘3’.

Edit: 8.1.2-1322 exhibits same behavior, no scrolling in option tabs.

8.1.3-1328 exhibits same behavior, no scrolling in option tabs. An additional symptom is that the scroll bar itself begins flashing as soon as it is moved and continues flashing until the tab window closes. Probably not a contributing factor, but I install non-system user apps (including 3DC) in c:usrProgram Files rather than c:Program Files.

It’s working OK (Nvidia + W7 64 + 3DC 8.1.3)

But with a simple unmodified sphere in the scene, after a few srolling in the different tabs, 3DC crashed.

Hmmm… I think I have an idea. Related to the version of MSFLXGRD.OCX (windowssystem32 usually), which on my system is 6.01.9782.

MSFLXGRD.OCX product/file version on my XP P3 machine is 6.01.9782, dated February 23, 2004.

There goes that theory…

Anyone who is NOT using XP having this problem with scrolling?

I should note that it is vertical scrolling that is not working. Those flex grids holding fields too wide for the container scroll correctly horizontally.

It works for me, but not as I expect. The options in the ‘Available Operations’ dialog don’t update until I release the left mouse button–I would expect them to scroll along with the scrollcar movement.

This bug is somehow related to the ‘theme’ selected for the desktop. I’ve been using the ‘Windows Classic’ theme for my XP machine from day one (sentimental, I guess).

I scrounged around the net looking for scrolling issues with the flex grid control and noted several complaints (old, circa 2005/6) revolving around possible ‘missing theme’ issues.

As an experiment, I changed my desktop theme to ‘Windows XP’. Lo, the flex grid scrollbars in the Option tabs started working correctly (vert and horiz)! Are you using ‘Windows XP’ theme Paul?

So, it’s likely a MicroSoft issue. I can live with the strange looking desktop in front of me for now. Richard should apply himself to more pressing issues.
