Night Texturing for Window Glow

I’ve read through every tutorial and faq that I can find about making windows and night textures for them, and I am soooo close to success with this. But i’m missing a step somewhere that is driving me to the point of frustration.

1. I’ve made the daytime windows, put them in a group called Windows_fx_day, so they will only show up during the day. This particular window shape itself (a primitive 3x6x.11ft, extruded for shutters and textured) is called ‘winn4_day’ – that is Window, northside, #4, daytime-only showing.

2. To test the nighttime window, i’ve made a new group, called it Windows_fx_night. I’ve made a window shape (primitive 3x6x.11ft, no shutters, textured with same texture as daylight window), and called it ‘winn4_night’ – Window, northside, #4, show night only. I place this window slightly in front of the daytime window.

3. Under the object properties, I find the Rail Sim box and put in ‘Tex’ (i’ve also used TexDiff and AddATex).

4. Save, and export to Railworks.

5. Open Asset Editor, find the geometry file that I want to preview, and preview it.

6. The daytime windows show up and look correct. The nighttime window does show up, and i’m expecting to see a brightly lit version of the daytime window. But it show up only as an untextured modified cube primitive with no texturing. I’ve tried several methods to get this thing to work, but to no avail.

What am I missing here?
