I was hoping it was updated to include hand rails. I guess he didn’t get around to that.

Thanks Paul. Works great
Hi Paul
Don’t know if this helps but the standard terms used for steps / staircases tend to describe themselves pretty well
Height is height or ‘Vertical’
Base is termed ‘Going’
Side width is ‘Stringer Width’ which is a perpendicular measurement
there is also ‘Stringer Thickness’
‘Tread Inset’ is the perpendicular distance from the front edge of the stringer to the Tread
Step width is ‘Tread Width’
Step Depth is ‘Tread Thickness’
‘Tread Depth’ is distance front to back of tread
It would also be usefull to display the vertical distance between each tread … this is termed ‘Riser’ and for UK normally is 0.180m
plus or minus 0.050.
The Maths would be Vertical / (No.of steps + 1 )
It is common for Stringers to be made from Flat Plate or Channel ( ‘U’ ) section.
Just general info the plug in ‘as is ‘ will be a great help,
Many thanks again
Sly
Thanks Sly.
It was thrown together in a couple of hours over lunchtimes. There is more to come with future versions of this plugin, like bannisters and vertical ends.
Hi Paul
For bannisters / handrails / ballustrade
On stairs common vertical height over tread is 0.9 m nominal
On landings the height is 1.1 m nominal
Thanks again
Sly
Edited to correct minimum dimensions to…. as listed under British Standards
Hi Paul
A lot of stuff on this site reference terminology and UK standard construction, some drawings too.
A plug in to make real stairs could have commercial possabilities and would be an interesting project <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
