Naming Objects

Hi Hank, there’s file in the MSTS document folder you might find useful…’How to make signals.doc’. You need to edit the frame names (not objects) by left clicking on the existing ones. Best of luck. Mike

I’m a real newbie at 3D, so please bare with me. andnbsp;I have a 3ds file of the recently released searchlight signal( by permission of the author). I’ve imported it into 3DC and each of the four objects that make up the signal (mast, heads, markers) all appear with the name ‘object’ andnbsp; The frame or scene, I don’t know which, has to be named SIGNAL to work as such , the head has to be HEAD1,2 etc. also. How do I apply these names?
Hank andnbsp;:)

There is a hierarchy of objects located on the left side of the 3DC window. You will want to name both the object and its frame. Mike Pye’s tutorial goes into this [img:64tb61wa]http://www.btinternet.com/~mike.pye/[/img:64tb61wa]

. You should probably read all the tutorials, but andquot;improvementsandquot; has information on the hierarchy.

Also, there is a andquot;using the hierarchyandquot; tutorial included with 3DC’s help
