Hey, so I’ve been quiet lately, but I want to chime in here for a second. . . andnbsp;I agree that lack of a real measuring ability is sometimes frustrating.
Couldn’t a plugin or script be written to determine the distance between two points? andnbsp; That would solve a lot of problems, as the distances between edges, objects, faces, etc. could be determined by selecting appropriate measuring points.

I often have need to create a roof with some overhang. On angled sections, without having to resort to a calculator, is there a means to determine the distance between two points of a cube?

I use a cube for measuring. I put a new cube on the scene, resize to the appropriate measures and rotate in front or side view until the edges of the cube and the selection I want to measure are parallel and overlapping. It’s a bit tiresome but Richard did not acknowledge the necessity for a measuring tool so far. But one still hopes….

Thanks for the tip.
Yeah, I hate to say this but I’ve been doing more building using TSM than 3DC of late. I leave to 3DC the more difficult projects though anything which involves piping is done in TSM as well. I was working with Gmax and might start doing that again in the near future. 3dC has helped me alot to understand a number of concepts and some terminology. I can’t explain it but with transparencies my copy crashes alot.. I can’t figure how to bend a pipe without it taking awhile and the same project I can do in TSM in a fourth of the time. I really like 3dC alot but I’m just not using it as much as I used to.
