mdl format?

Hi, 3d game studio has 2 parts. The World editor which is for making the actual game and building things like buildings, landscapes, and setting up your characters. The world editor only accepts .mdl format and .hmp for height maps. The other part is the Model editor. The model editor can import .3ds, .x and a few other things. But the model editor is really terrible. At least I think so anyway after using 3DC. The model editor does not have Bones. To animate an object you have to select the vertices you want to move and then move them. It is really difficult to use because if you are trying to animate a character you have to be sure to select the same vertices every time you set a frame or it will not look right. Thanks for your reply and I hope you eventually get time to make what we need.

Thanks!

Hi, I was wondering if you thought about making it so that I can make a model and export it as an .mdl format. I am using 3d game studio and would like to use your program to make models.

Thanks!

Well, if you really need it, you could always write it yourself <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>.

There are actually two MDL formats. One for Quake and one for Microsoft Flight Simulator. 3DC can export the one for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Hi, can you make it so that I can export to the quake .mdl format? 3d game studio comes with a model editor but it is not very good. andnbsp;3DC is much better. There are over 6,000 members at the 3d game studio forum. If you made it so that 3DC could export the quake .mdl then I am sure a lot of them would buy 3DC.

Sorry I might have confused you a little.

The world editor does not do any animating. It is just used to make the buildings and landscapes and place the character in the world.

The model editor is just for creating and animating characters and making simple props like weapons. You can also use the andnbsp;model editor to andnbsp;make trees and larger objects but if you do this the collision will not be very acurate.

Thanks!

I’ve got too much on the go right now. Is MDL the only format that 3D Game Studio supports?
