Need a little help here folks… My laptop has had 3DC 7.X loaded and worked fine – no issues whatsoever… Last week I uninstalled 7.X and tried 8.X just to see what it is like… Looks very promising – however – as I understand it – it’s not ready for prime time yet because all the functionality is not in place…
So – to get back to modeling – I uninstalled 8.x and loaded 7.x back on my machine… Once back in 3DC 7.X – I get this horrible lag on just using the basic navigator – even when I select a ‘New’ blank model… Every mouse movement via the navigator takes 3 to 5 seconds to respond… It’s totally unusable…
My troubleshooting:
-many reboots…
-uninstalled 7.x – tried basic install – no plugins – extras – or help – same result – lag…
-uninstalled 7.2 and went back to 7.1 same result – lag…
-deleted all the 3DC files in ‘My Documents’ and performed a fresh install of 7.2 – same result – lag…
-Even though I’ve never needed to do it in the past – I turned on UAC – tested it – same result – lag – then turned it back off…
As it stands – I can’t use 7.x…
-Loaded 8.X back up – and – the lag went away… 8.x runs just fine… So my laptop is fine – I suspect something in the 8.X install renders 7.X unusable – and – when you uninstall 8.X something is left behind…
Any help – greatly appreciated…

You didn’t need to unsinstall 3DC 7.x.
Hopefully, it is (it should, at least) possible to execute both versions independently so that it is possible to still run 7.x while 8.x bugs are corrected.
Did you try, after deleting 3DC files in ‘My Documents’, to install 7.1.2 version, upgrade to pro version (or whatever your license allows for) and then install 8.x version?

Yes – while troubleshooting – I completely removed all the 3DC files in ‘My Documents’ – then performed clean install of 7.2…
The license version seemed to make no difference – I tried 7.X both prior to and after registering with the same result… Severe lag…
Hmm – maybe I should load 7.2 again – then load 8.x – and see if that clears up my issue with 7.x ???

Hi Dom,
FYI: While all 3DC 3DC software was removed from my laptop – I poked around in the registry and notice beaucoup entries still associated with 3DC even after a complete uninstall… I guess this is probably normal though – as I saw entries for versions 6.x, 7.x, and 8.x still preesent…
Also – loaded up both 7.2 and 8.x at the same time without luck… 7.2 still had lag while 8.x worked fine…
Man – I just want to work on my model…
