Just flowers

Les,

Nothing comes to mind. andnbsp;Give me some time and I may be able to help you. andnbsp;I make some notes as I go, sometimes…

Howdy

Here are some flowers. andnbsp;The context is a garden scene in a children’s picture book, so realism isn’t what I’m after. andnbsp;They were all made with the same script, which also applies the textures (except for the closest one andnbsp;- it’s an orange andquot;graniteandquot; from POVRay created in 3DC 5.0, and it looks better in 3DC). andnbsp;

I’m very happy the 3DC takes .png files and POVray renders transparency correctly without any further thinking and manipulation. andnbsp;i can’t get the same to happen with .tga, so I’ll stick with .png.

All the petals are planes, and there are artifacts created at the edge of transparent planes. andnbsp; These seem to disappear with proper lighting, but I would be interested to know if anyone has tips on this.

I know there a seams in texturing the sunflower seeds. andnbsp; Can’t get the crop exactly right. andnbsp; The most beautiful one (or at least that with which I’m happiest) is the eglantier (purple one in middle – don’t know the english word for it). The others…?

Hope to brighten up your screens.
George

Geo,
That is extremely nice. I’ve got to start learning about scripting. Any plans on writing tutorials for things like this? Or have you written some already?
Les

Very cool. I love to see the 3DC scripting features going to good use.

Richard

Ta, and glad you like it. andnbsp;Tutorials? andnbsp; My scripts are just extensions of the MakeFace script that comes as a sample. andnbsp;I just make more faces <!– s:-) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!– s:-) –>

I may be able to post some annotated scripts – or maybe a tutorial would help me remember what I’ve done. andnbsp;Dunno. andnbsp; Will tink about it.

Geo,
I probably need to just learn about scripting in general, since I dont really know anything at all about it. Are there any places/tutorials where a person could study it?
Les
