Thanks for your eloquent feedback. andnbsp;I think my comment was really aimed at soliciting such a response. andnbsp; As I stated, I am not an artist, and am learning one step at a time. andnbsp; However, I am elated at the Train Wizard, the Scripting and VB Plug In capability, the online Help files and other aids. andnbsp; As a former software developer, I sometimes get distracted building tools instead of mastering those techniques necessary for real modeling.

It is a real privilege to be able to use such a great program and to participate in this wonderful forum with such knowledgeable members.

Richard,

I have been reading Alex’s comments and others suggestions for a long time and your replies. andnbsp; As a non-artist, I can’t really evaluate the artistic pro’s or cons of many of his suggestions or the others. andnbsp; However, since you recently opened a new forum for newbies, I think we can safely state that your customer base includes beginners, intermediate and advanced(professional) users. andnbsp;I count myself as being somewhere between the first two. andnbsp; In your development for Version 6 and any future followons, I suggest that andquot;consistencyandquot; of interaction with the features be the guide. andnbsp; The only criticism of 3DC that I have seen is that it takes a good length of time to learn how to use it. andnbsp; That is probably most applicable to newcomers. andnbsp; However that statement is true of all 3D graphic programs. andnbsp; My hope is that along with your vision for improving 3DC’s features, you are also able to improve the options for interacting with those features in the future. andnbsp;I can already say that 3DC provides the most andquot;bang for the buckandquot;, but I would also like to say that 3DC is also the easiest professional level 3D Program to learn and use. .

Keep up the good work. andnbsp; We all appreciate you, although many only communicate when they have a problem.

Charles

Hi,

I’ve tried a few high-end and mid-end modelling programs and to be honest, I believe that 3DC is already the most intuitive and easy to use 3D program available in its class. So, there won’t be any significant changes to the work-flow or interaction of 3DC. I won’t mess with success and in general the reviews that 3DC receives are quite positive, especially in the area of ease of use.

I think that the mistakes people often make when evaluating 3D software is:

1) They compare the ease of use of a 3D Program to a word processor (or other application). They think that the word processor handles andquot;wordsandquot; better than the 3D program handles andquot;3Dandquot;, so the 3D program is andquot;hard to useandquot;. They forget that in order to use the 3D program they have to learn design/modelling, and with the word processor they already know English/Typing.

2) They compare two 3D programs where one is extremely limited or dedicated to a particular task with a general purpose 3D program. Obviously the 3D program that does very little is easier to use. In the same way that Microsoft Paint is clearly easier to use than Adobe Photoshop.

That isn’t to say that the interface of 3DC is andquot;perfectandquot;. Far from it. I will definitely improve it over time, but it will be incremental.

Richard
