Jerky point movement (Resolved)

The problem was that the snap to grid was selected. It seems to be selected by default and I did not notice. No problems now.

I find that when I select a point and try to move it along any axis, there is a very jerky movement and even at maximum magnification, the minimum movement is 10 pixels.

Entering a figure of less than 5 pixels in the parameters panel to move a point results in no movement. Entering a figure of more than 5 pixels results in a movement of the point by 10 pixels.

It is difficult to select a point with the point/edge/face selection tool. You have to de-select the object before you can select an edge or point or face – otherwise the whole object is selected.

Similarly with the rectangle select tool. Trying to select a group of points results in the whole object being selected unless the object is de-selected first. Is this intentional?

Are boolean operation supposed to be working. They are visible, but greyed-out even when I select an object.

I am getting fairly frequent crashes for no obvious reasons.

I think this is intentional. It was already in pre release versions.

GǪ It’s a change of [img:3cmx2tw3]http://amabilis.com/forumattachments/a/tpc/f/654101992/m/582106192?r=582106192#582106192[/img:3cmx2tw3]
behavior
from 3DC 7.x. The two objects must be selected before choosing the operation.

What do you mean by ‘parameters panel to move a point’?
If I use the shift operation, I can move a point of any fraction of units (for example, 0.001 mm if unit is meters).

Why are you talking of pixels whereas units can only be meters, centimeters or feet?

An very useful way to move a point along an axis is by pressing the ez keys at the same time and moving the point with the mouse keeping the ez keys pressed.

Do you have Snap to Grid selected on the top toolbar and a high Point snap-to interval set under the Toolsandgt;andgt;Options menu.

This would give you very jerky point movement.
Try setting the Point Snap-to Interval to something like 0.02 and/or turn Snap to grid off.

I don’t have Version 8 but it sounds like this could be the problem.
