Is this forum defunct?

Sorry, but trainsimfiles.com has gone forever, and we have all moved to [img:21t16zg3]http://www.uktrainsim.com[/img:21t16zg3]

but the download library is still being built up again. A lot of us are taking the opportunity to improve some of our earlier offerings before putting them back up.

I have now replied to your animation question, hope it helps.

Animation is useful, now we are getting the hang of it. Apart from lineside windmills, merry-go-rounds etc, it has been used to rotate fans on diesel locos, make old steam locos ‘rock and roll’ along the track, and open carriage doors at stations. Now we have started adding loads to wagons using the ‘freightanim’ line in the .wag files we just need to figure out how to set up the animation of loading and unloading facilities, such as cranes. Still plenty to find out about in MSTS.

I asked a typical newbie type question in the andquot;Simple Animation….andquot; thread and not an iota of help yet. andnbsp;I’m sure someone here has applied 3DCP animation to MSTS files, I need some direction. andnbsp;Anyone using this product for MSTS certainly understands the concept of a semaphore signal. andnbsp; It needs a HEAD frame with a pivot point defined somehow, somewhere. Is that the ‘key frame?’ If so how do you incorporate that data into the final MSTS file.
We all know how lacking the documentation included with MSTS is, so I have to depend on a source like this for help. andnbsp; There wasn’t any bright flash of light in the 3DCP docs either regarding animation and MSTS.

Hello? Anybody there? andnbsp; At least tell me this so I don’t continue to waste my time coming back looking for answers.

The animation is staying. Really andnbsp;:)

It has already been put to good use: [img:1rp398e8]http://www.tillier.net/speedworks/pack1.html[/img:1rp398e8]

I think there is a tutorial on using animation at [img:2xdx8ryl]http://www.trainsimfiles.net[/img:2xdx8ryl]

but they seem to be down now. You could try searching train-sim.com.

Also, I think the pre-christmas season is pretty slow. People are busy with shopping etc.

I agree. andnbsp;A lot of the forums I visit have been slow lately, not just this one. andnbsp;I know I’ve been pressed for time for a lot of reasons, including planning for the upcoming holiday. andnbsp;BTW, I haven’t gotten around to exporting animated models in MSTS andnbsp;:-[ andnbsp;I’ve been (and I suspect lots of others have been) busy with creating freight cars and custom buildings for routes. andnbsp;Animation is incredibly cool and useful (so don’t get rid of it Richard!), but probably most MSTS projects don’t need it (still, don’t get rid of it!). andnbsp;Good luck, but consider yourself a pioneer! andnbsp;;D
