Is there a greeble plugin for 3DC?

Tommy, I think you’ll find quite a few people here use 3DC for space-themed modeling, and

Paul, a greeble plugin would be very cool.. I’d like it too!

^_^

I know that a lot of people use 3DC for trains. But I need space ships and space stations for my next game. So a greeble plugin would come in handy.
You don’t know what a greeble is? Look [img:2iz816jh]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeble[/img:2iz816jh]
here
for an explanation. There are some plugins available (even in source) for other modelers. In general it’s great to add detail primitives like cylinders, cubes and rectangles to simple models.

Does anybody know if such a beast does exist for 3DC?

It would help to make space ships cool and big and would add details automatically.

Thanks,
Tommy

It doesn’t exist, but looks like a fun thing to write.
Unfortunately I already have 3 that need finishing off soon.

Plugins and scripts are not difficult – if anyone wants the source for any of mine to use as examples, just drop me a line.
The handrail builder does a similar job with the stanchions added to selected faces.

I would be interested of course. Haven’t looked at plugins in detail yet – is there a way to have dialog windows for plugins to add parameter values to a plugin/script call?

Paul, PM’ing me would be nice.

Cheers,
Tommy
