importing help please

Thank you Doodler!!
I went home for lunch and did exactly that. Thanks for all the help everyone!!!!!I had built the radio in a new scene because the one I am going to place it in has so many objects in it, I thought it might be wise to make the radio seperate, then import it in, then I realized I had never done that before without merging everything into one object and placing it in the object library. Now when I export the scene to an outside renderer, I can still texture all the seperate parts. Thanks again to all!!

I made a radio and want to import it to another scene I have been working on. The radio is a group of extruded and lathed parts. i had wanted to keep them as seperate, grouped parts so if I decided to send this scene to a different renderer, I can re-do some of the textures to some of the parts. Can I export the radio as a group? or do I need to export the radio in its seperate parts ( or make them objects in the object library) ? Or is there a way to get the radio into the scene I want another way and still have it as seperate parts that are grouped? andnbsp;I dont know for sure if I merge the parts or union the parts if I will still be able to texture each part seperatly. Sorry for the confusing question, I’m alitte worn out. andnbsp;:P

Yep! Thanks. Thats exactly what I did. Was just wondering if there was something else. Thanks!

I merge the parts together and save in the object library. Then load my new scene then load the object from the object library then delete the merged layers in the object layers panel. They will still be grouped together but seperate objects.Just place your radio where you want it before deleting the merged layers.Hope this helps you.

Just right click on the radio, then click select group, then right click again and select add to object library, all parts that are in that group will then be in the object library. andnbsp; ;D

Hey Paul!
That was what I was trying to figure out. How to select a group( the radio) or the whole hierarchy and import it. The radio is the only thing in this particular scene, so I was wondering if there was a way to export the whole group or hierarchy, or if I opened the other scene and could somehow import the group or hierarchy. ( the radio) I will look it over and try to figure it out. Thanks!!!

NOTE – you can select a group or hierarchy and export that to the library – no need to merge into a single object – it also retains all the group centres.
