GMAX to 3DC?

I usually use a workaround of using Milkshape to convert a gmax exportable md3 file into a .3ds file.

Is there a way of importing GMAX files into 3DC? How can I zoom in and out in viewports?

Gmax should be able to export a .x file – this is probably the best format for importing to 3DC.

Let us know if it works OK as it may prove useful for a future project I have.

There are a couple of translucent bars next to the control widget on the bottom left – one of these is for zooming – there is a tutorial somewhere in the help text on the viewport controls. It is a good idea to get very familiar with these as they make life much simpler once you get the hang of them.

GMAX can’t export 3D models to any game file format without a gamepack and there’s no gamepack or file exporter that can export 3D models to *.X format

odd – I would have thought .X would have been common.

just did a google search which came up with this thread…

which indicates this gmax addin should export as .X
