Thanks, Flippa. Means a lot coming from somebody who’s actually used one.
I didn’t pay serious attention to the backdrop ’cause it’s a game model, and I basically just hit Printscreen while in 3DC and cropped the pic out of the viewport. But you’re right, it’d be a good idea for me to keep the backdrop a light color in future screenshots, LOL

This is an experiment with simulating the color black in textures without losing detail. Can you guys let me know if it appears TOO light/dark on your system, or if the detail shows up fine?
M16A2, carrying handle and magazine hidden from view because they haven’t been textured yet.
Model done in 3DC, textures hand-scratched in PSP

It does seem a little dark on mine. My monitor may be darker than most.

Thanks…I was a little worried because I realized a couple days ago that everybody had different types of monitors, brightness, and gamma settings, and that what looks okay on mine might not look good on other people’s monitors.
As for making textures for others….it sounds like a good idea, even though I’m really busy with a big project right now. Maybe when it’s done I’ll have time to make texture libraries for other people.

My compliments for the texture! andnbsp;:oops:
Is amazing.
On my monitor look good, darker than the background but the particolars still visible.
bye.
p.s. Did you make textures for others? andnbsp;

Richard,
Thanks for the input <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
I guess maybe I need to code in support for custom user-defined gamma levels then?
No sense trying to get something looking right on everybody else’s machine when you can just plug in a snippet that lets them tweak the brightness within the game until it looks just so to them.
God, I hate C++, LOL

Yep. Gonna have to lighten it some, after all.
All the feedback is appreciated and I’m going to discover a better black, as it were <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

It looks good for the details, but it appears too dark on 2 different monitors, one a SONY Multiscan 17sf and the second a Viewsonic P810. andnbsp;I hope this feedback is of help.
