Exporting 3DS errors

obj seems to work but the unwrap is missing.

swift3d ‘Erain’. Awesome if you do Flash stuff.

Milkshape doesn’t seem to import directx but will export it.

I am trying to export 3ds objects and import them into swift 3d.
If I make simple objects everything seems to work fine.
As soon as I add 4 or five objects together I get import errors.
When I re-import the 3ds into 3DC sometimes a few objects are missing ok I solidify them, and this seems to allow me from getting visual errors.

But I still cannot import to Swift 3d or Milkshape.

Is there any general rules I should be aware of when I am converting to 3ds?

Such as naming or grouping concerns? Should everything be optimized or triangulated before export?

Will Swift 3D allow importation of another file file format that will probably work better, such as DirectX ?

Optimizing your work prior to export may help as will triangulating your model as this is usually how other modelling programs handle and render a model. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

milkshake, according to their web site handles directx 8 inports and exports. 3DC handles direct x better, try that instead of 3ds export.

um… swift wasn’t as easy to find info on, or it could be I stopped looking after a couple of searches.

dierct x is better, however. I’ve had some success with 3ds exports, but gennerally imports work about one out of two times, and autosmooth is never on when it does work
