Export X formats???

This also help when storage is concerned, a lot of engines use special compession for textures which might not be directly integrated into the .x for exampled the Nvidia DDS texture format.

Cheers D.

Hello folks,

Got a quick question thats been bugging since the beginning of time. andnbsp;I could of sworn from somewhere that when exporting to direct X format, the textures are actually saved in the file. How come when I export with 3DC to direct x, and load it in the game engine or another modeller, only the mesh shows up?

Only when I place the textures in the same directory of the mesh is when everything shows up correctly. andnbsp; Is there some flag option that I have to select?

Neuro

The name of the texture is stored not the texture itself.

Put the texture file in the same dir as the .x file and all your troubles ‘should’ be over.

That sucks… <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!– s:( –>

I think this is caused my the *.x format and is not down to 3dc ?

On the bright side it does allow you to use one model with many andquot;skinsandquot; <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Actually Neuro, its a very sensible approach.

eg. large game level, multiple objects all sharing a handful of textures.

the way .x works = small number of texture file, if they where all included in the models this would increase the overall size considerably.
