Edge extrude

I should be able to detect that condition, I just have to decide what to do.
It should probably be treated as if the edge was not common to both faces.
Fix soon.

This one is a little bit like an Inset, followed by an extrude.

It appears under the object builder sub menu.
Select one or more faces or a single object.

Extrude is the amount to expand out by
Inset is the distance in from the edge
Bevel is a value that will slope the inner face – 0 for perpendicular.

It makes short work of cockpit frames.

The original object is ‘unharmed’, a new object called ‘Moulding’ is created.

A small addition to add the inside faces to solidify the object.

Here is the function run on a cube with the cube deleted:

I’ve been trying to install the edge extrude after a recent reinstallation of 3DC and I can’t get it to show up. I’ve tried using your 7.1.2+ Plugins pack from your website and I’ve tried the above download all to no avail. Where might I be able to get it again? It’s a very useful tool.

It’s probable I have missed the file from the plugin installer.

Give this a try (need to register if Vista users)

Paul,
Thank you very much. That’s done the trick.
That’s a plugin that is destined to be one I’ll use a lot.

Paul,

Well there appears to be a problem remaining, When I attempt to use the plugin I get an error
6 – overflow. Any idea what’s causing this?

Probably dividing by zero somewhere <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
Is there a back to back edge somewhere in the object?

Will check later today.

Yes, I believe there is. I hadn’t thought of that. Is it fixable or should I just use a single faced object?
