Division problem

The quick reply is

don’t face select then divide but just object select the cube and divide

the longer answer is that you are re-dividing the first face again or, put another way, andnbsp;the second face has 5 sides not four <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

As a learning project, I tried to make a small Rubick’s cube. I dropped a cube primitive and scaled it 4 to the side. With the face select tool I selected one face, applied the divide oreration from the obj. op. tool bar and all went well, I applied 4 colors . I then rotated the cube 90 degrees clockwise.and tried the same process.
but this time I got 6 triangles of various sizes instead of the expected 4 sub-faces. On one of the faces I had only 5 triangles. Could you tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thank you Alan. You are a deep well of knowlwdge. I tried it andnbsp;and was amased. I also tried the division tool on a selected face and applied the four colors then rotated the cube 180 degrees, divided again, and I had 4 fine sub-surfaces. So when I’ll have to use the division tool, I will remember, I hope, that divisions apply to edges that touche each other.

andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; Have a nice day.
