DIVIDE operation (including shape layers) has no option for horizontal or vertical. The only option is to divide all faces.

yes 9.0.4 has the same problem, no longer able to set the direction etc from either the shape operations panel nor the Right click divide selection.

That does not even work in version 7, I wonder if it ever worked like that.
It only works on faces.
With the point and face tool, Right click on a cube, select/all/faces and then divide, then it works.

Yes, it’s only a "face" option. It’s always been that way as far as I know.
