Convert 3DC825 project back to 3DC712 ???

Hi…

I’ve got a few show stoppers in 3DC825 preventing me from completing a couple of projects… Has anyone ever convereted a 3DC825 model back to 3DC712 ??? I’m a bit anxious to start working on them again and I’ll even go back to version 7 if able…

Regards,
Scott

One way would be to export the model as an igs or obj from 3DC825 and then import the model into 3DC712

yes I had some problems with 3dc 825, and lost two models somehow. Would save but just could not load them back, real damn pain that was. Not sure what was causing it either, and yes I forgot there was a log file.

It was either the remove triangles operation, or the fact I was importing 3do objects, which may have been from a early version.

Scott can you sort enlighten us as to what issues you are/have had with 825 please, so we can compare notes

Morn’n Folks,

Thanks for the input…

Hi Peter,

Most issues I’ve reported before…

My Biggies:

When ‘Shifting" and "Scaling" objects – the shifts distort the object being manipulated – sometimes just a small amount other times much bigger… I spend a lot of time using the "Equalize" operation to correct these induced errors… It’s pretty tedious…

Paul’s "Rod Animator" plug-in is broken in 3DC8 – Paul is aware and stated he would work on it when he has time…

I’m having all kinds of issues with creating "Custom LOD’s"… I can do it on some models but not others – sometimes the exporter doesn’t complain but just doesn’t produce the LOD’s – sometime it crashes 3DC fatally… I have five models that I am working with… Two steam locomotives – two tenders – and – a freight car… All my testing on this has been done without modifying the LOD models in any way – just a simple duplicate to test the LODs…

– The steam locomotives – export without complaint but the expoter just doesn’t create the LOD’s in the resulting shape…
– The two tenders – created LOD’s OK – no issue…
– The freight car crashes the exporter and 3DC – fatal error #9 or something like that…

One of my steam locomotives crashes 3DC whenever I try to use the "Duplicate" function on the right hand tool bar… I can duplicate parts – but – whenever I "Select Hierarchy" then try to duplicate the entire model – 3DC fatal error…

I sent Richard a note asking when he is going to be around again to address some of these issues… No repsonse yet… He has been absent from here for a while now…

Correction on LOD’s…

I just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 x64… Now EVERY attempt to create "Custom LOD’s" causes a fatal system error #91… I did try a complete removal and fresh reinstall… Arrrgh – I’m spendding WAY too much time debugging 8 instead of working on my models…

Hopefully things have settled down a bit. Hopefully you can get up on 8.2.6 soon, which may be a help.
