and rendered in carrara studio
Stop it Alan, you’re making me dizzy ! <!– s:D –><!– s:D –>
Did you render the wheel in Carrara Strudio as well or another programme ?
to alan:
looks cool,
i also had a question for you reguarding carrara studio. is it hard to learn/model/do anything in. i don’t want a 3dsmax package. i just want something simple that looks awsome that will do what i want.-but i dont want to take forever to learn how to use it. any way just wondering because i am considering it, i just spend most of my time in after effects and photoshop and don’t have a lot of time to sit down and learn a program for 4 months.

Carrara is a great program…sit back and learn. Very few tutorials, I like it better than Bryce, but, like everything it takes time. [I’m running low, LOL] If you want to knot ‘now’, forget it. If you found 3DC easy you can apply it [like all] but if all you want is a ‘easier’ renderer look at Bryce.
Re. carrara Studio – I suggest you give the demo a try as it is a very nice render engine – but for modeling I would say ‘forget it’. (It might just be me but I can’t make a thing in the modeler section – maybe if I spent some more time with it….but then again if the modeler was any good why would they (Eovia) sell a seperate package ? <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>)
The wheel, helm and ‘last one for today’ were rendered in truespace (6.6) – once again a nice render engine but I will be avoiding Calagri in the future (I got pulled in by their ‘Very special offer – last day today’ that I now know they run every couple of weeks… <!– s:( –><!– s:( –> ) One thing I do like about truespace is that if I colour the model in 3dc then take it into truespace I can just drag a material onto the colour and that colour ‘becomes’ the material (take a look at the helm on the first page of this post for an example) Several of the plug-ins that I bought from caligari also do not work fully <!– s:( –><!– s:( –>
There are earlier versions of both packages now free (V1.1 of Carrara (off mags)and V 3 (?) of truespace (off web)) which would be worth trying….
this one was fun – a sort of dog/crab/skeleton that can scuttle around on its ribs/legs –
maybe it would look good in a ‘cell shaded’ game…

3D Model download
andlt;– <!– s:) –><!– s:) –> (if it works ? Might not work in freware version of 3dc)
i like it. i imagine this cell shaded look was created in carrara? i am seriously considering getting it, i love these cool render types it can do. is it hard to pick up and use? and do you model a lot with 3dc and then bring it into carrara to render? i just need some direction. i don’t really need it but if it is a good investment i’ll get it.

do you have wire fusion or did you use the demo?
Korben
Yes I should of said – modeled in 3dc and rendered in carrara studio 3 (‘Toon! Part 3’ settings)
All I use it for is to drop models into play with a few settings and hit render. As I said above, I don’t like the modeling parts of the program – I guess they are OK but I just can’t be bothered to learn a new modeling package when 3dc does everything I need and nearly everything I want <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>
Try to get hold of version 1.1 off a computer mag. It will do 90 % of what version 3 does and will only cost a few quid.
Eovia also do a 30 day(?) demo of version 3 – [img:1w4uxuu5]http://www.eovia.com[/img:1w4uxuu5]

re. wire fusion – just got it today (v3.2) off 3d world mag [img:1w4uxuu5]http://www.3dworldmag.com[/img:1w4uxuu5]

(I am not sure if the model will load into the freeware version of 3dc….)
