Center object on frame?

First off it sounds like you are using an older version of 3DC. andquot;Framesandquot; are now andquot;Groupsandquot;. Version 5.7a is a free upgrade for all registered 3DC users.

You may be able to use the andquot;Shift Centreandquot; plug-in for this. Though I am not that familiar with that particular plug-in.

I find I spend a good deal of time trying to get the local coord frame positioned correctly for an object. andnbsp; It’d be nice if, at minimum, there was a way to just do an operation that would andquot;center frame in objectandquot;. andnbsp;I did notice there is a andquot;center object on frameandquot; but it move the object. andnbsp; So, instead of repositioning the frame manually to get the final result, I have to perform the operation, then reposition the object manually. andnbsp;Ugh. andnbsp;Am I missing something?

I’m using 3DC LP 6.0.1.1.

I’m talking about the word andquot;frameandquot; used in the andquot;Center Selection on Frameandquot; operation (I assumed andquot;frameandquot; meant andquot;local coordinate frameandquot;, but I guess I’m confused). What it seems to do is move the object (or andquot;selectionandquot; to be precise, but I use it for an individual object) so the local coordinate axes are in the middle of the object. andnbsp; What I’d like to do is move the local coordiante axes so they are in the middle of the object, without moving the object itself. andnbsp; Is this possible?

Woops.! The Center operation still refers to andquot;frameandquot; in its tooltip help. Sorry about that! I’ll fix that for the next release.

As I said you should look at the andquot;Shift Centreandquot; plug-in. I think that is your best bet to do what you are trying to do. You can do it using the Shift Tool also with the Shift key held down (or is it ctrl?), but that would require eyeballling it which is pretty imprecise.
