Car WIP

Hey Kirk,
I’ll try to send it, the model is now saved with textures. I had the scene trying to record a snapshot , went to bed to see if it would finish in a fw hours, my wife got up in the morning and shut it down, saving the scene with textures. I think I can delete the applied material layers in the model, then I will send it. I’ll work on that Sunday.
KB,
I really respect your artistic vision. The street scene sounded good. I am going to play with the car when time permits. I am going to send it to Kirk, any and all are welcome to play with it as well. ;D Any newbies wanting to see some modeling do’s and don’t’s are welcome to it as well. andnbsp;::)My next vehicle will be a motor cycle thats been in the works for a few weeks as well. Which reminds me, I am going to post a question about lights if anyone can help, I’d appreciate it, it will be in general forum.

This is a car I’ve been playing with.

By the way Kirk, I am very interested in decals, since I was going to make 3D chrome emblems and scale them for the car, as well as stripes. I am going to read up on it in the help files in Carrera and 3DC tonight. I was up to 6:30 this morning trying to figure out how to paint faces in Carrera, and still couldnt do the rims on this car. But……. practice, practice practice <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>

here’s the back in POV

Thanks guys!
Yes, I’ve figured to just send the model in default textures to Carrera. But I am still having a really hard time learning to texture just faces in Carrera. Note the rims in the previous pics. In the next two pics, the render was the internal POV in 3DC. Note the rims are now chrome and I added a terrian and some bump mapping to the grass and the pebbles on the ground. I also found the roundness or andquot;smoothing of the tires was constantly lost when exported to Carrera. I never did find out how or why I couldnt make them smooth like in the 3DC renders. The next two pics are rendered in POV internally, but render time was extremely long, and, if I added anti-aliasing, and atmosphere, the snapshot wont even work. Only preview. I would have liked to be able to give the pic some depth but 3DC with atmosphere and anti-aliasing just sits there. Not sure what I can do to get a really good render from POV . ???

Hey Bladrrner

Well I see you have your modeling down…Looks great..

Did you texture it in Carrara or 3DC then imported it to Carrara?

Because, you want to only model in 3DC and then import to Carrara and texture in there. dont bother with UV MAPs…you can place decals in carrara and do multi colers in carrara much easier.

P.S andnbsp;when you import be sure you dont over set your fedelity it can worp the model.

you can also use more then one light to highlight different parts of the model just turn of shadow only leave shadow for one light…

The wip looks great!!!!

Love it andnbsp;;D
Which renderer?

Hey Bladrnner

If ya want…e-mail me the 3DC File ..no textures..and let me see how ya modeled it and so i can help you do strips and decales…

Really cool, blaydrnnnr! 8)
Yes, a street a scene…..with everything slightly tilted and blurred to create an illusion of motion-maybe… ::)
andnbsp;Artists are never done-the world’s a WIP.
andnbsp;KB
I know there is a tutorial on unwrapping, haven’t tried it though.

With a scene around it , a few more details, and better lighting in the render, it might just get finished. andnbsp;

I’m actually thinking of trying to put this car in a street scene, perhaps a city street, with some dramatic street lamp lighting. I would also like to maybe get some advice on mappingit so I could put some details on the paint job. Stripes, and maybe emblems.

The JPG’s could have been better quality….
