Bogies wont animate

For future reference for others with the same problem…

– Missing ‘animdist’ in config file
– Must select an object in the bogie group before running the TRS export plugin, automatic bogie option.

Ok, I’ve tried to get this bogie animation to work in Trainz for ages now so I’ve come back here again as a last port of call, I’ve run out of options.

I’ve currently knocked up a 4 wheel test bogie to use with a Trainz DMU. The problem is, it won’t animate. My understanding from Paul is that I don’t have to manually animate the wheels as the MSTS bogie export plugin for Trainz can generate the animation for me. (It’s basically 2 sets of wheels rotating)

Despite numerous attempts and checking of the hierachy I just can’t get the wheels to animate in Trainz (TRS2006) The anim.kin is generated BTW although it doesn’t need to be mentioned in TRS06 config.txt apparently.

I also tested the bogie using the Train Simulator Wizard plugin and basically just used the bit where it identifies all parts, which it did automatically. I then finished and the wizard exported the shape to one of my routes in MSTS. I used shape viewer to view the generated .S file and switched the animation on. The wheels animated just fine ! I wonder why the bogie will animate in MSTS and not in Trainz? Have I done something wrong or is the latest bogie plugin not working correctly for v7.0.21?

Sry, I’m always asking for help Paul but if I can get around this, I should be pretty much on the last leg of my first DMU in Trainz.

Thanks, Tony

Hi Tony,

It sounds like everything is working OK for the export.
E-mail me the .IM,.KIN, textures and config.txt for the bogie and I’ll take a close look at the internal codes, though I suspect it is correct and there is possibly something in the config not working. That’s usually the problem with most TRS models.

Thanks for the help Paul. All fixed <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
