bleeding through of interior

Thanks andnbsp;but tried all of this. The size of the interior is a little smaller than the hull and I tried walls in dark grey. They helped a little but not significantly.

I built some old Austrian passenger carriages with interior using specularity 0 for night illumination. In MSTS from near everything looks fine but from greater distance, 200m or more, the interior begins bleeding through the outer walls. How can I solve this problem?

This has to do with inaccuracies in the mathematics of 3D. Make sure that all of the parts that make up the andquot;shell/exteriorandquot; of your model is all on one frame. If they aren’t, moving them to your model’s main frame should help.

I don’t know if this will help, or if the problem is from the same cause. But I had a similar problem of interior colour showing through at a distance on my coach ends. I simply put a, single sided, second ‘wall’ of the same colour as the exterior, just inside each end (sorry, does that make sense?) with the textured side outwards, of course. andnbsp; The extra layer, although hidden, seemed to hide the ‘bleeding’. Maybe, I was just lucky, but maybe it will work.

You’re right about the gaps. I guess I have to live with the bleeding. I have it minimized so far and it is not really that disturbing as you can see it only in far distance. Thanks for info concerning the cross sections and again for the AAA support.

Thanks! I try.

This selection of cross sections is already possible in a way using the group selection tool. If you are in an orthographic view alt-drag and you will select everything in the selection rectangle. So, just alt-drag a rectangle around a cross section. I just posted some tutorials that show this in action (well…. they ty to).

If you want, I can have a look at your model for you, but I am guessing it is gaps between the polygons that have translucency and those that don’t. There isn’t really anything that can be done about that. But I will have a look if you want (<!– e –>richard@amabilis.com<!– e –>). If you send something, could you send a screen capture showing the problem as well?

Richard

Sorry to say but that didn’t work. The shell is and was always the main frame.
BTW Thanks Richard for your excellent support and the speed with which you react to questions. I’m very content with 3DC and although I bought TS Modeler I’ll stick to 3DC, it’s far superior.
From TS Modeler comes a suggestion for improvement of 3DC: maybe you could implement the possibility to select cross-cuttings; sometimes it would be a great help and to do it point after point is tiresome.

Actually Kevin, that is a very valid point. The more distant an object is the less ability TrainSimulator has to determine what is in front and what is behind. It may have to be considerably smaller to guarantee that it is never seen.

Richard

Just another thought. Is it possible to reduce the size of the andnbsp;interior slightly? I have had a similar problem in the past and this seemed to help.

Cheers
Kevin
